Kailin and Hunter got married at Avalon Legacy Ranch this past spring. They had an absolulely magical day full of whimsical and romatic details! From turning the libary into a hidden gem, to every hand picked piece of china and vibrant florals- it truly was a day to remember! We asked Kailin to share some of her wedding day thoughts with us so we could pass them on to other future couples!

1. What made you pick ALR?
I saw ALR on the knot, and honestly what first drew me in was, it was the only venue that wasn’t all white and bright, which is not my vibe at all. I wanted my guests and Hunter and I to feel like we were all at home, but also in the forest, so ALR really gave the best of both worlds, Hannah Montana style. Not to mention, all of the lovely ladies who work at ALR made us feel welcome and you could reallt tell they have a passion for this and LOOOVE love.

2. What was a fun or unexpected surprise on wedding day?
A very happy unexpected surprise on my wedding day was all of my bridesmaids wrote me letters about how much I mean to them and how proud and happy they were for me. I was crying happy tears all morning long LOL.

3. What special details did you include and want to feature on wedding day?
My wedding was Howls Moving Castle themed, and it was very important for me to tie that in without making it tacky or overwhelming. We had lots and lots of florals, a Sophie’s Garden themed cake, I made a little Calcifer centerpiece, and we had very maximalist and mismatched table setups, and Alee and Hannah decorated the library to resemble Howl’s room, and it was amazing. Everything was very whimsical and it felt magical.

4. Any advice on choosing vendors?
I ended up going with a lot of the vendors that ALR recommend. For the most part, you’re going to want a vendor that is familiar with your venue. It makes stuff easier, and you know that that venue has had nothing but good work from that vendor. I recommend doing a phone call with each vendor as well to get an idea of personality, etc, especially when it comes to Planner, DJ, and Photographer! You’re going to want someone who knows your vibe and you can vibe with, because you will be with them and work with them very closely, and you don’t want someone so preventable to make your day harder for you!

5. What was your favorite part about wedding day? What was Hunter’s favorite part?
My favorite part of my wedding day was exchanging private vows, and walking down the aisle to my future husband. I thought I would be anxious because I have horrible social anxiety, but I had the most unexplainable sense of calm. That moment was the exact moment felt the rest of my life beginning with the best man in the world.
He said his favorite moment was seeing my for the first time walking down the aisle towards him. He said he felt like he was seeing me again for the first time, and he got complete tunnel vision and couldn’t even see or hear anyone else, and in that moment it was just us.
